Each profession has a characteristic phrase tied to its context:

"Heute fahren viele Autos!" (Taxifahrer, commenting on traffic),
|
||
"Haben Sie die Übung gemacht?" (Lehrerin), "Was möchten Sie trinken?"
|
||
(Kellnerin), "Möchten Sie die Haare kurz?" (Friseur), "Das Buch kostet
|
||
8,95 Euro" (Verkäuferin), "Haben Sie frisches Brot?" (Kunde, not a
|
||
profession — the customer's line), "Sie müssen viel schlafen."
|
||
(Ärztin) — good example of how professional register/context shapes

typical utterances.

### Von Beruf / als — stating one's profession (extends Menschen L2)
|

"Ich bin Taxifahrer von Beruf" / "Ich arbeite als Friseurin" — both

## Notes / gotchas
|
||
|
||
- **This section's profession set barely overlaps** with the Lesen &
|
||
Schreiben book's Abschnitt H or the Wortschatz & Grammatik book's
|
||
Abschnitt H — between all three, the student now has a genuinely
|
||
broad professions vocabulary (this book adds Taxifahrer, Bauer,
|
||
Maurer, Mechaniker, Hausfrau to the mix).
|
||
- **Ü26's "von Beruf" vs. "als" vs. plain "bin [Beruf]" variation** is
|
||
worth noting as free stylistic variation — all three ways of stating
|
||
one's profession are equally correct and native speakers mix them.
|
||
- **This is the shortest section in the book (2 exercises, 4 pages)** —
|
||
pairs naturally with Abschnitt E (Familie) for a combined
|
||
"personal information" study session, since both sections build
|
||
toward the same kind of self-introduction monologue.
