+## Notes / gotchas
+
+- **ein/eine vs. kein/keine** is the headline grammar point, and it
+  crucially does *not* replace **nicht** from Lektion 3 — the two coexist:
+  *nicht* negates verbs and definite-article statements ("Das ist **nicht**
+  der Tisch"), while *kein-* negates indefinite nouns ("Das ist **kein**
+  Tisch"). Worth drilling the contrast explicitly, since English "not a"
+  covers both cases and doesn't signal which German form to use.
+- The eye-doctor comic (Frau Paulig) and the "Was ist das?" comic strip
+  both exist purely to motivate the ein/kein contrast through
+  guess-the-object play — good source material if generating similar
+  practice dialogues.
+- Materials vocabulary (Glas/Holz/Metall/Papier/Plastik) recurs from here
+  on any time an object is described — pairs naturally with the
+  der/das/die + er/es/sie pattern from Lektion 4.
+- This lesson closes with a page of practical vocabulary (Adresse,
+  E-Mail, Fax, Geburtsdatum, PLZ, Straße, Telefon) for filling out forms —
+  worth treating as its own functional cluster since it's likely to recur
+  in real-world tasks (registrations, deliveries) beyond the textbook.
