Add Wortschatz & Grammatik A1 Abschnitt L (Pronomen)
Akkusativ object pronouns (reinforces Menschen L6) plus Dativ personal pronouns and demonstrative pronouns (pp. 87-88) - both new grammar not covered in Menschen A1.1, which stays in Nominativ/Akkusativ only. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

# Wortschatz & Grammatik A1 — Abschnitt L: Pronomen
Seiten 87–88 (Teil 2 Grammatik) · Lösungen S. 113 · Übungen L1–L2
## Overview
- Skill focus: Grammatik (personal pronouns as Akkusativ/Dativ objects,
demonstrative pronouns replacing nouns)
- Topic: matching statement pairs using pronoun objects (guest-list/
invitation context), demonstrative pronouns ("der/die/das" used as
standalone pronouns, not articles) in shop/conversation dialogues
- Relates to *Menschen* Lektion(en): **L6** (Akkusativ — L1 extends this
to full personal-pronoun objects: mich/dich/ihn/sie/uns/euch/sie/Sie).
**New beyond Menschen A1.1**: **Dativ personal pronouns** (mir, dir,
ihm, ihr, uns, euch, ihnen, Ihnen — L1's second half) are not covered
in Menschen A1.1, which doesn't formally introduce the Dativ case.
**Demonstrative pronouns** (der/die/das used to mean "that one," as in
L2) are also **new** — a distinctly different function from the
definite article the student already knows.
## Grammar covered
### L1: Personal pronouns — Akkusativ (reinforces L6) + Dativ (new)
**Akkusativ object pronouns** (reinforces Menschen L6's Akkusativ intro):
mich, dich, ihn, sie, es, uns, euch, sie, Sie — used as the direct object
of a verb like einladen (Ich lade dich ein = I invite you).
**Dativ object pronouns** — **new grammar**, not in Menschen A1.1:
| Person | Dativ pronoun |
|---|---|
| ich | mir |
| du | dir |
| er | ihm |
| sie | ihr |
| es | ihm |
| wir | uns |
| ihr | euch |
| sie (Pl) | ihnen |
| Sie | Ihnen |
Used with verbs that take a Dativ object, like **gefallen** (to please):
Das gefällt mir = "I like that" (literally "that pleases to-me").
### L2: Demonstrativpronomen — **new grammar**
The words der/die/das/den/dem etc. can stand alone as a pronoun meaning
"that one/it" (referring back to something already mentioned), instead
of functioning as the definite article before a noun:
- "Welcher Pullover gefällt Ihnen am besten? — Ich möchte bitte **den**
da." (that one there)
- "Ist die Postkarte für John? — **Dem** habe ich schon eine
geschrieben." (to him)
This is grammatically distinct from the definite article the student
already knows (der/die/das + noun) — here there's **no noun following**,
and the pronoun itself carries case marking, functioning much like a
personal pronoun with extra emphasis ("that one specifically," not just
"it").
## Exercise summary
1. **L1 Gästeliste** — match 11 sentence pairs describing who's inviting
whom (Akkusativ pronoun practice, part 1), then complete 7 more
sentences with the correct Dativ pronoun (part 2).
2. **L2 Meinen Sie die da?** — match 10 sentence pairs, each answer using
a demonstrative pronoun to refer back to something in the question.

## Notes / gotchas
- **Both grammar points in this section (Dativ pronouns, demonstrative
pronouns) go beyond Menschen A1.1**, which sticks to Nominativ and
Akkusativ (masculine only) throughout its 12 lessons. Present as
enrichment, not review — don't assume the student can already form
these without guidance.
- **Demonstrative pronouns are easy to confuse with the definite article**
since they're spelled identically (der, die, das, den, dem ...) — the
distinguishing feature is that a demonstrative pronoun **replaces** a
noun entirely rather than preceding one, and it carries slightly more
emphasis than a plain personal pronoun (es/ihn/sie) would.
- **gefallen + Dativ** (Das gefällt mir) is a genuinely common everyday
pattern worth teaching even before full Dativ mastery — it's a fixed
phrase pattern much like "möchte," so it can be taught as a chunk.
- **This is another short section (2 sub-exercises, 2 pages)** — pairs
naturally with Section K for a single combined practice session if
desired.
